We’ve all been there, you're expecting company and you've perfectly rearranged your furniture.... however those dents from where the furniture used to be are looking really unpleasant! This first trick works like magic! Just ice it. Place an ice cube in the dent, more if it’s larger, and then let it sit there and dry for 2-3 hours. The water will engorge the nap of the carpet and lengthen the strands. You can then blot up the extra water and lift, or fluff the fibers with your fingers.
You can also spritz water onto the fibers, using just enough water to saturate them. Then blow them dry with a hair dryer. Again, lift and fluff with your fingers. Just like your hair gets body from a good blow dry, so will your carpet.
For a really stubborn, or deep divot grab a dish towel and place a medium/high heat iron on top of it. Run it over the spot for about 30-60 seconds. Never let the iron actually touch your carpet as you could easily burn or melt your carpet…. then we would need to direct you to another tip to fix that problem. The last part of this step is to run your vacuum over the spot to help fluff the fibers and help them stand up.
