Nylon. This is the most popular because of its resistance to soil, it is strong and can stay in shape for years. However, it can pile if not taken care of properly and is also prone to static.
Olefin. A carpet fiber that was originally used outdoors, but is often used indoors now because of its wool-like texture. It is also very strong, but should be kept out of harsh sunlight as it could dull it’s appearance.
Polyester. This fiber resists stains, moisture and is easy to clean. It’s downfall is that is not as strong and it can pile, or shed if not well maintained.
Acrylic. This is made with a wool like body and resists statics and stains. It also holds it color really well.
Wool. Real wool is a natural fiber that is great at resting stains and dirt. It is also more expensive because of how sturdy and durable it is.
Triextra. A synthetic choice that is becoming more popular in homes with pets and kids. The fibers and very strong and not as likely to tear apart as others.
